To my old friends

“Somethings are better left unknown.”

To my old friends
I am sorry I wasn’t a good friend.
I am sorry I didn’t know how to communicate back then.
I am sorry my trust issues got in the way.
I am sorry I didn’t come out to play.
I am sorry I didn’t text for days, months, and years.
I am sorry I didn’t share secrets as you did.
To me the fewer people know about me the better it is,
And the more secure I feel.
If I tell them nothing then they can’t hurt me.
To my old friends
I am sorry I wasn’t a friend.
I promise to change for the next.
I hope you find new friends you can trust,
And I hope they trust and love you just as much.
To my old friends, I am sorry I wasn’t a good friend.
You deserve better than I was back then.

  1. Heartbreaking but beautifully written poem. Sometimes we make mistakes when we’re in a bad place and all we can do is strive to be better in the future.
