I waited

I waited
I might have had tears in my eyes,
But I waited
The years, the time, the months, hours, seconds
I waited
Through the storm, rain, sun, snow
I waited
Through the winter, autumn, summer, spring
I waited
This heart of mine waited in pain, love, and patience
Because it believed that even if it took a lifetime
You would come right back where you belong,
So I waited without a doubt
My love for you was stronger than my fear
I gave you time to grow
While I waited and build on our home
For all the time, I waited
You came back with love to repay it.

Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.
